McKeon Congratulates Director Panetta on Confirmation

Statement

U.S. Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon released the following statement following the confirmation of Leon Panetta to be the next Secretary of Defense:

"I extend my congratulations to Director Panetta on his confirmation. He is a capable and diligent public servant with a long record of accomplishment. I appreciate that Director Panetta, a former congressman, demonstrated his commitment to an open and cooperative relationship with the Congress at his confirmation hearing. With challenges from Afghanistan to Libya, we have a shared responsibility to provide all the necessary support for our warfighters. I look forward to a close and productive relationship with him as we work to protect and enhance our common defense."
