Strengthening the middle class and supporting people who work for a living is an important priority for George. He believes that there is no more important issue than creating good jobs here in America and in the Bay Area communities he represents.
George has worked to increase the minimum wage to ensure every American who works hard for a living can earn a fair and decent wage.
George has also led efforts to make our economy work for everyone by giving workers the tools to bargain for fair wages, benefits, and treatment.
This year, he has spoken out against organized efforts in Congress and across the country that could undermine the rights of workers and the middle class. George understands that stripping the fundamental rights of workers to bargain and organize is an assault on all working people. He's called the recent anti-labor push, "a bald-faced political effort to bust the unions of hard-working middle class families. These union members are taxpayers who teach our children, keep our communities safe and provide critical services to residents of their states."
