Keith Landecker of Chattanooga Honored in Washington

U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Bob Corker, R-Tenn., today congratulated 2011 Jefferson Award recipient Keith Landecker who is being recognized for starting a youth baseball league in Chattanooga. The senators greeted the Tennessee recipients of the Jefferson Award at a constituent breakfast yesterday in Washington.

"It was an honor to meet each of Tennessee's Jefferson Award recipients, who were truly enthusiastic about serving their communities. I applaud each of them for giving so much of their time to help others in our state," Alexander said.

"We're so proud of all the Jefferson Award recipients from Tennessee who are doing incredible things in their communities to help others and really uplift us all," Corker said.

Landecker co-founded a youth baseball league to provide young boys, many of whom come from an at-risk population, with a positive activity so they can learn valuable life skills and build a bright future.

Additional Tennessee recipients of this year's Jefferson Award include: Darlene Winters of Memphis, Memphis Catholic High School, and Community First Bank & Trust of Columbia.

Each year, the Jefferson Awards program recognizes individuals at the local and national levels for outstanding community and public service. For more information about the Jefferson Awards, visit: http://www.jeffersonawards.org/.
