Congressman Lee Terry today called on Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chairman Gregory Jaczko to resign, citing in part a seven-month review by the Office of the Inspector General.
Five congressional committees -- including the House Energy and Commerce Committee which Terry is a member of -- have examined Jaczko's recent decisions.
"The NRC is tremendously important for our nation's energy security. It is imperative Americans have complete confidence in the NRC and its oversight of the U.S. nuclear facilities.
"It is impossible to have confidence in a manager who hides information and prevents relevant facts from being obtained by his fellow commissioners.
"While I have full faith in the NRC and its mission, I have none in Chairman Jaczko. This is a clear case of abuse of power and he must resign."
