U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-09) issued the following statement after voting for both H. Res 292, the Republican Libya Resolution, and H. Con. Res 51, the Kucinich War Powers Resolution on Libya:

"On U.S. involvement in Libya, President Obama has failed to abide by the War Powers Act, failed to clearly explain to Congress and the general public the goals of the mission, and failed to heed even his own interpretation of presidential war powers granted by the Constitution. Additionally, the Obama Administration has worked off of the United Nation's authorization while claiming the opinion of Congress doesn't really matter on this military action. We've been at war for ten years now, and the President's actions are too costly and unclear to justify opening our country's third theater of battle. For these reasons, I supported both resolutions before the House today that directed the President's actions on military involvement in Libya.

"Speaker Boehner's measure righty asserted Congressional authority by telling the President to get our authorization within two weeks or get out, and also reaffirmed our opposition to putting U.S. boots on the ground. Combining that with the Kucinich resolution sends a message to the President to remove U.S. Forces within fifteen days."
