U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, MI-08, issued the following statement today after General Motors announced a 9 percent U.S. retail sales increase in May, led by its lineup of fuel-efficient cars and crossovers, including the Chevrolet Volt:

"The sales increase hopefully further strengthens a positive outlook for Michigan's economy and jobs creation. Dedicated employees and management at General Motors are producing award-winning vehicles that are fueling customer demand in the United States. They have understood the need for innovation and showing that they can adapt to an evolving marketplace and generate positive results. The best news is that some of the leading vehicles, including Buick and Cadillac, are manufactured in Lansing."
