On Friday, the Trustees for Medicare and Social Security reported that Medicare will go broke in 2024 -- five years earlier than previously expected. The truth is that a bankrupt Medicare system is no longer a distant worry, but an urgent concern. I hope this report serves as a wake-up call for those who have been falling back on the same old scare tactics in order to stop reforms that could save Medicare for future generations. Doing nothing is just NOT an option, and the plan introduced by Paul Ryan would put Medicare back on a stable path -- without making any changes impacting those 55 and older.
