Dalrymple Proclaims a Day of Prayer on Memorial Day, Directs Flags to be Flown at Half Staff Until Noon

In accordance with a proclamation signed by the President, Gov. Jack Dalrymple has proclaimed Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, a day of prayer in North Dakota, and has directed all government agencies to fly the American and North Dakota flags at half staff until noon on that day.

In addition, Dalrymple calls on North Dakotans to observe the President's request that Americans unite in prayer at 11 a.m. local time on that day, and that a moment of silence also be observed at 3 p.m. local time for the National Moment of Remembrance.

"Throughout our history, generations of brave men and women have served and sacrificed to protect this nation and its ideals, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom," Dalrymple said. "Today, we honor the heroes who laid down their lives for this country and resolve that they will forever be remembered for their noble service and devotion to duty."

Dalrymple will commemorate Memorial Day by attending an observance at the All Veterans Memorial located on the state Capitol Grounds beginning at 10 a.m. He will also attend a ceremony at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan, beginning at 12 p.m.
