John Kline: President Should Take Tax Hikes Off the Table, Join Us in Increasing Energy Independence and Slashing Federal Spending

Congressman John Kline issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released the jobs data for April:

"While Republicans fight to foster stability and growth, congressional Democrat leaders continue to play politics with the nation's economy. Instead of working with us to cut spending and increase our energy independence with job-creating policies, the President and his colleagues in the House and Senate have once again pointed to higher taxes as the best solution to the nation's looming fiscal crisis.

"Threats of tax hikes for business owners and families are completely counterproductive to the goal of encouraging private sector job creation. The recession may have ended, but today's report illustrates far too many Americans are still struggling to make ends meet. I strongly urge the President to take tax hikes off the table and join us in our efforts to increase access to domestic energy resources and slash federal spending."
