Gingrey Statement on Death of Osama bin Laden

Statement

Date: May 2, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Phil Gingrey (R-GA) today issued the following statement in response to the death of al Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden:

"The death of the terror mastermind, Osama bin Laden, is a victory for Americans and all those who believe in the principles of freedom and justice. The horrific attacks on our nation on September 11, 2001 began a relentless pursuit for the death or capture of bin Laden. This news proves that - no matter how long it takes - we will not rest until those who kill Americans have been brought to justice.

"It is testament to the unwavering courage and tireless efforts of our men and women in uniform and the intelligence community that the last 9 years, 7 months, and 20 days have undoubtedly been difficult for bin Laden and his terrorist thugs. While this is a monumental development, we must remember that al Qaeda remains committed to our demise, as do we remain committed to ensuring that terrorists cannot threaten the livelihood of free people."
