Connecticut Delegation Statement on $30 Million Awarded for High Speed Rail

Statement

The Connecticut Congressional delegation released the following statement today in response to the Department of Transportation announcement that it will invest nearly $800 million to improve travel along the Northeast Corridor and that the State of Connecticut will receive an additional $30 million to put toward the completion of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield high speed rail line.

"Connecticut received news today of two critical transportation investments that will make travel faster, safer, and more efficient for families and business across Connecticut, and from Boston to Washington, DC. These improvements to Amtrak's Northeast Corridor and Connecticut's New Haven-Hartford-Springfield line are essential to our continued effort to ensure strategic infrastructure investments, which will create jobs, ease congestion and increase economic growth across the state. While $30 million for the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield line is less than we had hoped for, we remain committed as a delegation to continue to seek future funds for this important project."
