Chairman Graves Previews National Small Business Week

Next week, May 16-20th, will mark the 48th annual National Small Business Week, a recognized time to celebrate the contributions of small businesses to the economic well-being of America. Republican Members of the House Small Business Committee will celebrate American small firms by holding small business forums and listening sessions in their Congressional districts across America.

"As National Small Business Week approaches, it is important for us to remember the vital importance of small firms to the health and growth of our national economy," said Chairman Sam Graves. "America's nearly 30 million small businesses are the engines of job creation and the lifeblood of our nation's economy. Small businesses create seven of every ten new jobs and they employ just over half of the country's private sector workforce. Simply put -- our nation's economy will only go as far as our small businesses will take it."

Chairman Graves continued, "The fact of the matter is that high taxes, misguided regulatory decisions and economic uncertainty harm small businesses disproportionately more than larger businesses. Throughout National Small Business Week, the Republican Members of the Small Business Committee will hold events across America and listen to small business owners about how government policy is helping or harming their companies."

In addition to hosting small business forums and listening sessions throughout next week, Republican Members of the Committee will write special columns and op-eds about the "state of small business" each day of the week.
