Renacci Votes to Increase Domestic Energy Production

Today, Congressman Jim Renacci (OH-16) helped advance a House bill that will increase domestic energy production and lower skyrocketing gas prices.

H.R. 1230, the Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act, will expand American energy production and create jobs by moving forward with oil and natural gas lease sales that the Obama Administration has put on hold.

"Since President Obama took office, the average price of gasoline in America has more than doubled," Congressman Renacci said. "The Administration has repeatedly blocked and delayed domestic energy production, policies that have resulted in the loss of thousands of jobs. In contrast, the bill I supported today will expand energy production, create jobs and generate revenue. H.R. 1230 alone is estimated to reduce net direct spending by about $40 million over the next 10 years. It is imperative that the President and Congressional Democrats cease their efforts to delay and hinder on and off-shore oil exploration while American families suffer through exploding gas prices."

The bill advanced in the House today is part of the American Energy Initiative, a policy agenda House Republicans introduced to lower gas prices, create American jobs, and decrease our dependence on foreign energy.
