Haslam Declares State of Emergency in Advance of Flooding, Storms

Press Release

Location: Nashville, TN

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam declared a state of emergency at noon today as a precautionary move because of the severe weather and forecast of Mississippi River flooding.

"Activating the Tennessee Emergency Management Plan allows the state to swiftly react to any requests from local governments," said Haslam. "Our local governments in west Tennessee are preparing to open shelters and the state will be ready if they need additional support."

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency will continue to monitor events and organize any necessary state response activities.
