Energy and America's Future
With gas prices soaring to nearly four dollars a gallon, Massachusetts families are spending more on energy than ever before. That's why I am introducing a series of targeted initiatives that will help lower energy costs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. We should follow the laws of supply and demand: to bring down costs, we need to develop more energy and consume less - and leave politics out of the equation.
My focus is to both reduce domestic demand and increase domestic production. We need to make sure that the energy sector uses taxpayer money wisely and does not pass unnecessary costs onto the backs of ratepayers. I also want utilities to be transparent, so that every American citizen has detailed energy usage data for their home and neighborhood, and is empowered to conserve.
