Gowdy Praises Passage of Ryan Budget

Today, Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC) released the following statement in response to the passage of Chairman Ryan's (R-WI) budget.

"True leadership requires courage. When faced with tough challenges, politicians all too often shift their focus to electoral implications and partisan accusations -- prioritizing political fortunes over our country's future. Today, Chairman Ryan and House Republicans chose a different path.

"The realities of our fiscal situation demand systemic, comprehensive reform. Chairman Ryan's budget offers just that, and honestly addresses head on the fundamental challenge of our generation -- eliminating our crushing burden of debt.

"We have already seen Democrats resort to demagoguery and false attacks, and I expect this unfortunate trend to continue as we make the tough decisions true leadership requires. But know this -- we will always put the prosperity of future generations ahead of our political aspirations."
