Congressman Canseco's Vote to Fund our Troops for the Remainder of the Year

Statement

Date: April 7, 2011
Location: Washington, D.C.
Issues: Defense

Congressman Francisco "Quico" Canseco (TX-23) released the following statement regarding today's vote:

It is unconscionable that the Washington liberals in the United States Senate will stop at nothing to defend every last dime of wasteful Washington spending that they can, even if it means shutting down the federal government. However, we cannot put this fiscal battle ahead of providing for our troops who are serving in active theaters of battle defending our freedom. Because the safety of our troops comes first, I cast my vote in favor of H.R. 1363 to ensure that they have the resources they need to continue defending our nation for the remainder of the fiscal year.

The people of the 23rd District of Texas sent me here to cut spending and get our fiscal house in order, and that is what I intend to do, but not at the expense of our troops and their families."
