Walden Statement on President's State of the Union Address
January 21, 2004
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman Greg Walden (R-OR) issued the following statement this evening in reaction to President Bush's State of the Union Address.
"The themes that the President addressed tonight resonated with the American people and the people of Oregon because they are the issues that each of us cares about - creating jobs and revitalizing the economy, strengthening America's public schools, caring for our senior citizens and most importantly, keeping our citizens safe from terrorism," said Walden. "The President's address gave us ample reason to be optimistic on each of these fronts, but as always he made clear the challenging realities facing our country at this time. Now more than ever our nation requires strong leadership to overcome the obstacles that we confront, and I am proud to support the President as our nation moves forward."
Congressman Walden represents the Second Congressional District of Oregon, which includes 20 counties in southern, central and eastern Oregon. He is a Deputy Whip and a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce as well as the Committee on Resources.
