Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a member of the House Appropriations Committee and author of the deficit-ending Debt Free America Act, H.R. 1125, issues the following statement in response to President Obama's address on April 13, 2011, on fiscal responsibility:

"The President has laid down the marker for significant, realistic and necessary reform of our tax code as a major step to balancing our books. He has opened the conversation with a convincing argument. I will be leading the effort in the Congress to support his vision with bold, serious changes in the way we tax, spend and move toward the goal of a debt-free America."
