U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) issued the following statement after voting a second time to defund the health-care bill. H.Con.Res. 35, a sidebar resolution considered separate from the underlying bill that would fund the government through the rest of Fiscal Year 2011, would defund the health-care bill.
"The majority of the people who hired me as their representative have made it loud and clear that they opposed having the bitter pill known as government-controlled health-care forced down their throats. Our economic recovery has been erratic, at best, and will remain stalled until we tackle the flood of regulations that are hidden in the health-care bill. People continue to send a loud message to Washington that they want the job-killing government takeover of health-care repealed, and that's exactly what we are doing in the House."
