Acting Senate President and Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Jeff Kessler (D -- Marshall) is pleased that the Wheeling-News Register and Intelligencer has invited all Gubernatorial Candidates to participate in a debate later this month.
Acting Senate President Kessler sent certified letters to each Democratic Gubernatorial candidate last week, saying he is willing to participate in debates in all media markets, and asked if the other candidates were willing to do the same. Acting President Kessler's campaign has yet to hear back from any of the candidates
"Debates between all the candidates are especially important leading up to this special election due to the shortened campaign period," says Kessler. "We now have just over a month for the voters to get to know us, and I personally believe that each candidate should sit down, debate the issues, and give voters the opportunity to get to know us and our issues."
Acting President Kessler's campaign has been reaching out to media outlets, college campuses and other organizations to host these important debates.
West Virginia Northern Community College is co-sponsoring the debates with the newspapers. The debate is scheduled for Thursday, April 28th at West Virginia Northern's B&O Auditorium in downtown Wheeling at 7:00p.m. The event is open to the public.
