Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) issued the following statement after voting against the one-week Continuing Resolution (CR) that was brought before the House of Representatives today:
"As the possibility of a government slowdown approaches, I am urging House Leadership to bring to the floor H.R. 1297, the Ensuring Pay for our Military Act of 2011. I have co-sponsored this legislation, which would make sure that the brave men and women in our military continue to receive their pay on-time, even in the event of a disruption in government services. It is critical that those who are on the front lines fighting for our country be cared for, and not used as political pawns.
"I voted against today's CR because it failed to defund ObamaCare. This current mess has occurred because House Democrats failed to propose a Fiscal Year 2011 budget. However, they did bury more than $105 billion in funding in their ObamaCare legislation. I had previously pledged to reject any CR which does not defund that spending. Unfortunately, today's CR does nothing to defund ObamaCare and that is why I voted "no'".
