Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) released the following statement regarding former President Jimmy Carter's visit to Cuba. Diaz-Balart comments:

"Instead of supporting the lifting of sanctions against a state sponsor of terrorism; President Carter should demand the Castro regime to allow free and fair elections, freedom of the press, the establishment of political parties and the unconditional release of all political prisoners.

"Rather than meeting with representatives from the tyrannical Castro regime, President Carter should show solidarity for a free Cuba by meeting with the true leaders of the Cuban people, the Presidential Medal of Freedom winner Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet and Jorge Luis Garcia Perez "Antunez".
