McKinley on One Year Anniversary of Obamacare

Wednesday marked the one-year anniversary of President Obama signing his health care bill into law. Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E., (R-WV) issued the following statement:

"One year ago, President Obama enacted an unconstitutional healthcare bill into law that will raise premiums, burden small businesses, cost jobs and cut Medicare benefits for our seniors," said McKinley. "Everyone wants and deserves health care coverage -- we can all agree upon that. But this law is just too costly for West Virginians. I voted to repeal the health care bill because it is the wrong approach at the wrong time, and it will cost jobs. Democrats promised this health care reform would create jobs and lower health care costs. One year later we know that it will actually cost jobs and cost the American taxpayer. This bill is riddled with too many uncertainties for job providers.

"This Congress has made major steps forward in repealing a deeply flawed piece of legislation and replacing it with something that is bipartisan, lowers costs, saves jobs, and protects our senior citizens. In February, we passed funding restrictions to hinder the president's ability to push Obamacare on unwilling Americans. Congress will continue to defund this deeply flawed legislation and pursue any other avenues necessary to keep our country from being forced to accept this health care 'reform.' We owe this to our seniors, job-creators and to all Americans."
