Congressman Cantor Statement on the One Year Anniversary of ObamaCare

Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) today issued the following statement on the one year anniversary of ObamaCare being signed into law:

"On the one year anniversary of President Obama's signature initiative, it's worth noting that the law has already broken the two key promises he made while trying to sell it: Costs have not gone down, and people cannot keep the coverage that they have if they like it. To the contrary, Congressional Democrats and the Administration have had to admit that the law will eliminate nearly one million jobs from the economy, increase health care costs by over $300 billion, and reduce health choices for individuals and families. That is why the law should be repealed, delayed, dismantled, and defunded.

"Earlier this year, the first action taken by our Republican Majority was to repeal ObamaCare so that we can begin to lower the cost of care and restore certainty for families and businesses when it comes to delivering health care in this country. While Democrats have not displayed the same interest in listening to the American people, House Republicans will continue to use every tool at our disposal to delay, dismantle, and defund this harmful law. Republicans care about health care, which is why we are working on solutions to lower costs and increase accessibility to health coverage through commonsense policies that will not put Washington between doctors and patients."
