Rep. Tim Scott (SC-01) welcomed passage of H.R. 4, the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act of 201 1. A co-sponsor, he managed floor debate on the measure during Wednesday's session. Following today's vote, Scott issued the following statement:
"H.R. 4 eliminates one of the more obtrusive sections of the Health Care Reform Act and will remove an unnecessary burden for millions of taxpayers. As we strike this requirement conceived in the guise of socialized medicine, we are eliminating an impediment from the very sector on which we depend for job creation -- our small businesses. In honoring our pledge to the American people to reduce the scope of government, our vote today will aid our entrepreneurs, so that instead of creating 1099s for minor expenditures, they can create W-4s when they hire new employees."
