Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25) says that we are starting to see the first signs of optimism from American businesses. In February, 192,000 new jobs were created and for the first time in almost two years the unemployment rate fell below 9 percent to 8.9 percent.

"This is good news for this country and for our economy. The pro-growth agenda of this Congress is starting to bear fruit. Job creators are showing faith in our promise to rein in spending and remove the government barriers to economic growth." Buerkle said.

Yesterday's repeal of the small business crushing IRS 1099 reporting requirement of the Affordable Care Act is one example of the pro-growth agenda of the 112th Congress.

Buerkle continued, "My top priority is jobs. The reason I went to Congress was to get our region of New York working again. This is a step in the right direction, but we need to keep fighting to free the hard-working people who create jobs from the burdens of a too costly and intrusive government."

Congresswoman Buerkle noted that while the glimmer of hope in this job report is reassuring, there is still much work to be done. Millions remain unemployed, in addition to those that are no longer looking for employment.

Among her committee assignments, Congresswoman Buerkle is Vice-Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs, Stimulus Oversight and Government Spending.
