Pearce Offers Prayers for those Affected by Silver City Fires

Tonight, Congressman Pearce expressed his concern for the families affected by the fires tonight in Silver City, New Mexico.

"My prayers go out for all those who have lost their homes, and who have been evacuated," said Pearce. "I pray for the safety of all those in the area, and I am confident that the good people of Silver City will rebuild."

"When it hit, it hit big," said one Silver City resident who lost his home in the fire. "In our area alone, there were at least ten homes affected, and hundreds of people have been evacuated tonight."

Residents have informed the Congressman that an evacuation center has been set up at the Business and Convention Center in Silver City. The fire began as a grass fire that spread quickly due to today's heavy winds, and has now destroyed homes and evacuated hundreds.

Pearce was in Silver City on Saturday to attend a veteran's event and a local rally.
