Vote to Avert Shutdown

Location: Washington, DC

The House Appropriations Committee has unveiled a short term Continuing Resolution (CR) to provide fundsing to keep the government operating over the next two weeks until a compromise can be reached on a year-long funding bill.

The House vote is scheduled tomorrow, March 1.

The CR includes $4 billion in spending reductions and will prevent a government-wide shut down that could happen Friday if the House, Senate and White House can't agree on a bill to fund the government through the end of September, the end of the fiscal year.

The CR contains funding to allow all government agencies and programs to continue operating at the current level of spending for the next two weeks, until March 18, 2011.
