Lankford Joins House Push to Repeal 1099 Provision

Congressman James Lankford (R-OK) voted today for H.R. 4, The Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act of 2011. This bill will repeal the 1099 tax provision in ObamaCare that puts a massive paperwork burden on small business already struggling with numerous regulations from the federal government.

"Repealing this 1099 provision is a win-win for the American people," said Congressman Lankford. "The nuisance of this requirement has nothing to do with improving health care in America. It is simply a costly mandate from the federal government that further slows the economy by demanding more government paperwork. We should be encouraging productivity in small business, not weighing them down with bureaucratic requirements.

"I have yet to find anyone who was happy that this provision was in the original bill. It shows again that the more we find out about ObamaCare, the less we like it. This is a starting point for a step-by-step repeal of this onerous law and move towards a health care system that works for patients and our economy."
