U.S. Congressman Bill Flores (R-TX) released the following statement today in response to the release of President Obama's Budget for fiscal year 2012:

"After two years, our country still suffers with historic unemployment and the highest debt in U.S. history; however, President Obama and the Democrats remain committed to the notion that more spending, taxing and borrowing is the only way to grow our economy and create jobs. In his budget plan for the next year, the President slaps Americans with billions of dollars in so-called "investments,' massive tax hikes, and the crushing burden of additional debt, leading the Nation even further in the wrong direction.

"It is clear that the President is not listening to the American people and economists who have demanded substantial spending cuts to help create a better business environment for job creation. The President's budget stifles job creation by imposing a $1.6 trillion tax hike, adding $13 trillion to the national debt and fueling uncertainty in the private sector. With record spending, taxes and debt, the President is accelerating our country down the path to bankruptcy. President Obama was elected to lead and to tackle the country's biggest challenges; yet, he has once again failed to show the American people that he is serious about job creation and our children's economic future.

"Republicans in Congress are taking the critical steps to chart a new course: the path to prosperity. We have pledged to work tirelessly to advance real spending cuts and reforms and keep taxes low so that we may earn back the trust of the American people and restore confidence in the private sector. These tough, yet responsible decisions must be made so that we may do our best to restore America's promise, prosperity and security for future generations."
