Whitfield Calls to Restrict Greenhouse Gas Regulation Funds

U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, tonight took to the House floor calling on his colleagues to keep a provision in the Continuing Resolution bill to remove funding for greenhouse gas regulation by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

As part of his remarks, Whitfield spoke about legislation he has authored that would restrict the ability of the EPA to regulate greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.

"[The Energy Tax Prevention Act] would block EPA's global warming agenda under the Clean Air Act. The bill does not weaken the Clean Air Act, however; it would not affect the Agency's ongoing efforts to restrict smog, soot, lead, mercury and all the other pollutants that have been addressed under the Clean Air Act. It is simply a bill to stop the Agency and bureaucrats from issuing regulations [for greenhouse gases] absent congressional approval," Whitfield said from the floor.
