Blackburn on President Obama's 2012 Budget

Press Release

Date: Feb. 14, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Following the release of President Obama's 2012 Budget Proposal, Congressman Marsha Blackburn said:

"Months after the American people made clear they were done with Washington spending money we don't have on programs we don't want, the President has released his latest staggering budget. It is a disappointment. Instead of reducing overall spending, the President's budget pushes federal spending to more than a quarter of GDP, the highest level since World War Two. The President's budget adds $7.2 trillion to the national debt and, at $1.65 trillion, introduces the highest deficit in history. This is not the direction Americans want for our country."

Blackburn supports House GOP efforts to trim $100 billion from the current budget through targeted spending cuts. In the coming weeks she will urge her colleagues to accept across the board cuts applicable to all discretionary spending, as a means to foster efficiency, lower budget baselines, and preserve the savings we will achieve this year.
