Lance Responds to President's $3.7 Trillion Fiscal Year 2012 Budget Proposal

Press Release

Location: Flemington, NJ

Congressman Leonard Lance released the following statement today in response to President Obama's $3.7 trillion budget proposal:

"I am quite disappointed with President Obama's budget plan," Lance said. "The President promised the American people during the State of the Union that he would finally tackle runaway spending and growing deficits in his latest budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2012. But instead his budget proposal released today and formally sent to Congress Monday adds $1.1 trillion to the deficit in FY 2012 by offering more spending, more borrowing and higher taxes.

"There's an old Washington, DC saying: 'The President proposes, Congress disposes.' The President's budget is just a proposed blueprint that lays out his priorities. It is Congress under the leadership of House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan that will be tasked with putting forth our Nation's budget plan in April that will lower spending, reduce our deficits and debt and bring us on a glide path toward a balanced budget," Lance concluded.
