Bass Statement on Release of President's Budget

Press Release

Date: Feb. 14, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles F. Bass (NH-02) issued the following statement today after President Obama released his budget for the 2012 fiscal year.

Bass said:

"President Obama's budget includes over $8 trillion in new spending and $1.6 trillion in new taxes on hardworking families and small businesses. During a time of high unemployment and economic uncertainty, the last thing we should do is revert to the failed Democratic policies of the last four years and increase taxes and spending.

"We cannot continue to tax and spend our way to prosperity. Taxing America's job creators will only stifle our economic recovery and stall job creation.

"In the coming weeks and months, Congress will outline its priorities and begin the process of crafting a budget. There's no question that we will have to make tough choices, and I'll be reviewing proposals carefully to ensure that New Hampshire's and our nation's needs are met at a price we can afford. But if we don't get a handle on out-of-control federal spending, we will doom our children and grandchildren to a future of unsustainable debt."
