Congressman Robert Hurt (R-VA) today released the following statement after the Department of Labor issued the January unemployment report:
"Every month that our unemployment rate continues to remain at an unacceptable level, is another reminder of the pressing need for real change in Washington.
"While today's jobs report shows some small improvement, there is still much work to be done.
"It is critical that we continue in our efforts to cut spending, reduce unnecessary government regulations, and keep taxes low in order to grow the economy and create the long-lasting private sector jobs that 5th District Virginians need.
"Having voted to reduce spending to 2008 levels or less and to repeal the job-destroying government takeover of health care, I look forward to our work next week in the House where we will begin the process of reviewing the burdensome regulations placed on businesses that hinder job creation and stall economic growth."
