Statement

Date: Jan. 26, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Robert Hurt (R-VA) today issued the following statement after the first full Financial Services Committee Hearing of the 112th Congress titled, "Promoting Economic Recovery & Job Creation: The Road Forward.":

"Today's hearing included valuable insight from economists, business-owners, and citizens about how to remove the barriers to job creation and how to get our economic growing again.

"It is apparent that the uncertainty surrounding government regulations already in place and the additional mandates that are forthcoming from the Dodd-Frank bill are having real and negative consequences on our economic recovery.

"In order for our 5th District businesses, Main Street banks, and farms to have the confidence necessary to hire and expand, it is critical that we remove the burdensome regulations, allow increased access to capital, and remain diligent in protecting taxpayer dollars.

"I look forward to the Committee's ongoing work as we continue to find ways to help move our economy forward."
