Woodall Issues Statement in Honor of President Ronald Reagan's 100th Birthday

Statement

Date: Feb. 4, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

On Friday, February 04, 2011, Congressman Woodall issued the following statement in honor of President Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday:

"The time before President Reagan took office was rife with civil discord, foreign policy failures, economic travails and a general feeling of despondency. The hour is always blackest before the dawn, however, and President Reagan's leadership ushered in a new "dawn'for America. Reagan was a catalyst for change across the political landscape: from cultural reform to revolutionary defense and economic policies."

"President Reagan's centennial birthday comes at a time when Americans are skeptical of their leadership--and rightly so. As a distressed nation calls for change, I believe our leadership can look to Reagan as a beacon of optimism and an example of the good that can come when America sticks to its founding principles. I hope my fellow Georgians will join me in celebrating the life of a man who understood what it meant to lead in the face of criticism and who, as a result, was able to return this nation to a path of victory and prosperity."
