The historic Republican tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 created millions of new jobs, revitalized the U.S. economy, and allowed it to weather future challenges. Senator Hutchison has consistently championed tax relief for working families and small businesses. She led the fight to eliminate the marriage income tax penalty and to protect the deduction for state and local sales taxes for Texans. Senator Hutchison has also worked to reduce marginal income tax rates, lower taxes on capital gains, and eliminate the death tax.
