Twenty years ago, it would have been difficult to imagine how significant technology would be in our daily lives. Today, it is difficult to imagine our lives without many of the modern conveniences afforded to us by technological innovation. There is no doubt that advances, such as the Internet, have improved the accessibility and availability of information and broadened our communications capabilities. I will continue supporting legislation to reduce burdensome regulations and encourage advances in new technologies.

One advancement that is particularly important to rural areas like the 6th District is broadband Internet access. With these high-speed Internet connections, consumers and businesses in rural areas can enjoy the same access to goods, services, information and economic opportunities as those in urban areas. We must support well-crafted policies that promote the deployment and adoption of high-speed Internet connections in all sections of our country, especially in rural areas.
