Education
The quality of education our students receive in South Dakota is among the best in the country. As the father of two daughters who attended public schools in South Dakota, I know first-hand the importance of ensuring that educators have the tools they need to help children reach their full potential.

The "No Child Left Behind Act" has refocused our country on greater accountability and achievement in our elementary and secondary schools, but there is much more that can be done. I believe in the goals of the No Child Left Behind Act. I also believe that as Congress debates its reauthorization, we will have an important opportunity to strengthen and improve the law for future generations.

Without a doubt, South Dakota's rural schools have unique needs. That is why I continue to support education proposals that give schools the necessary resources and flexibility while keeping them accountable to taxpayers, parents and students.
