Clay Elected House Democratic Deputy Whip for Midwest Region IV

Congressman Wm. Lacy Clay (D) Missouri has been elected to serve as one of twelve House Democratic Deputy Whips. Mr. Clay's elevation to the House Democratic Leadership team comes as he completes a four-year stint as Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Information Policy, Census and National Archives.

"I want to thank my Region IV colleagues for choosing me to represent them on the House Democratic Leadership Team. Mr. Clay will serve as one of twelve regional House Democratic Whips who have responsibility to coordinate votes among delegations in their assigned states. The Congressman will be responsible for leading Region IV, which includes Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma and Kansas.
