My Statement On My Vote For House Speaker

My vote today for Congressman Jim Costa, D-Fresno, to be Speaker of the House for the 112th Congress is simple: I voted for somebody who understands California's Central Valley. For more than three years I have sat at my party's leadership table and advocated the need to focus on supporting small business and job growth in the private sector. I have also forcefully advocated the need to address the foreclosure and water crises in the San Joaquin Valley. This often has fallen on deaf ears and I have not received the support needed to help my constituents. In the most-simple terms, the economy of the Valley has led me to this vote.
