Rep. Ben Quayle (AZ-03) Sworn into 112th Congress

Statement

Date: Jan. 5, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Ben Quayle (R-AZ) released the following statement Wednesday after being sworn into the 112th Congress by Speaker John Boehner (R-OH).

"I am honored and humbled by the opportunity the voters of Arizona's 3rd Congressional District have given me today. I--along with 85 other freshmen Republican members-- was elected because Americans are fed up with a government that doesn't listen to their concerns. Over the past two years this frustration only grew as the White House and the Democrat-controlled House and Senate focused on issues that had no immediate impact on the one issue that mattered most: the economy. We intend to abruptly change this flawed course and listen to the people who sent us here.

"Make no mistake about it, beginning today and every day for the next two years, my focus and the focus of the new Republican Majority in the House will be aimed squarely at creating jobs, cutting spending and getting the economy going again. The choices we have to make in the coming months won't always be easy, but we have to start making them now in order to restore faith in America's broader economic system and to get people back to work."
