Rep. Roscoe Bartlett Named Chairman of the Air and Land Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee

Congressman Roscoe G. Bartlett, (R-6-MD), has been named Chairman of the Air and Land Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee for the 112th Congress. Congressman Bartlett had served for the past two years as Ranking Member of the Air and Land Forces Subcommittee. He previously served six years as the senior Republican member of the Seapower and Expeditionary Forces Subcommittee. Republicans initiated and maintain a six-year term limit for committee leadership positions. "I am honored that my Republican colleagues have selected me as a leader in the Congress to craft national security policies for our Armed Forces," said Congressman Bartlett.

Congressman Bartlett said, "I have devoted nearly four decades of my life to protecting the lives of the men and women in our military. As a scientist and an engineer, I focus on finding practical solutions to problems and challenges through collaborative partnerships."

"Our most important duty as Members of Congress is to keep America safe," added Congressman Bartlett. "I've spent eighteen years on the Armed Services Committee, including eight years as Chairman or Ranking Member of the Air and Land Forces and Seapower and Expeditionary Forces Subcommittees. More than anything else, I have fought to strengthen the U.S. military and the industrial base that supports it. I also have twenty years of professional experience working as a team leader or member on research and development programs for the military.

"I look forward to continuing to work with incoming HASC Chairman Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA). I also worked closely in the past session with incoming Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA) who most recently served as Chairman of the Air and Land Forces Subcommittee".
