Pence Commends Republican Congress for Cutting Its Own Budget

Statement

Date: Jan. 14, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Mike Pence issued the following statement today regarding Congress' vote to cut its own budget:

"The American people sent a message to Congress that they are tired of out of control spending and that message has been received. Any serious spending restraint must start with us leading by example and that is exactly what the Republican-controlled Congress did today by voting to cut its own budget.

"The budget cuts today are a good start. They will save taxpayers at least $35 million in 2011, and these cuts are an important first step that will hopefully pave the way for Congress to implement real spending reform this year."
