Issue Position

Americans across the country are hurting. With Nevada's unemployment over 13 percent, my number one priority in Congress is to turn our economy around and get Nevadans back to work. Despite claims that the stimulus bill would provide an "immediate jolt' to our economy, nearly 3 million jobs have been lost since its passage. On the heels of the stimulus bill Nancy Pelosi has pushed for even bigger government with trillions in tax increases. These policies include a national energy tax which is estimated to lose 2.7 million jobs and Pelosi's healthcare bill which could destroy another 5.5 million.

Big government is not the answer to fixing our economy. Congress needs to control wasteful spending and shrink the size of government. By adopting pro-growth policies that expand tax relief across the board and allow Americans to keep more of what they earn will lead to job creation and economic prosperity in the future. Capitalism is the foundation of America's prosperity. We should embrace these principles not run from them.
