State Representative Jimmy Bales, an educator for 33 years, believes that all children deserve a quality education. That is why he voted for the SC First Steps to School Readiness Act to help prepare preschool-age children for the first grade. He works to limit class sizes so that students can get the attention they need in the classroom. He supports legislation to give school districts access to alternative schools so that disruptive students can be removed from the regular classrooms. Jimmy realizes that many of today's jobs require additional education after high school. As a result, he was instrumental in full funding for students who attend a 2-year technical school or 2-year college. He is a supporter of the HOPE, LIFE, and Palmetto scholarships for deserving students desiring to go to a 4-year college or university.
