Statement by Gov. Perry on the Anniversary of the Fort Hood Attacks

Statement

Date: Nov. 5, 2010

Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement on the first anniversary of the tragic attack at Fort Hood:

"One year ago, our nation, our state and our military community were shaken to the core by a cowardly and vicious attack that left 13 dead and dozens of others wounded," said Texas Gov. Rick Perry. "Today, we pause to remember those lost, honor those whose bravery helped prevent the tragedy from becoming more widespread, and renew our commitment to respect and care for all of America's heroes who have sacrificed in the name of freedom. The thoughts and prayers of all Texans remain with the families who lost loved ones at Fort Hood, as well as those still recovering from wounds both seen and unseen."
