RECENT MOMENTUM HAS JOHN DENNIS WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE OF SPEAKER PELOSI

Polling Shows Strong Progressive Support and over $2 Million in Campaign Donations, Making CA-08 a Competitive Race

John Dennis, Republican candidate for the California's 8th Congressional District, stands poised to pull off an historic political upset.

Buoyed by over $2 million in donations from over 35,000 supporters across the country, John Dennis is running to win. And against all odds, the Republican who has repeatedly challenged Speaker Pelosi to debate the issues is gaining widespread appeal from Progressives, Independents and Republicans throughout San Francisco.

"I've said from the beginning that I'm running to win. Over the last few months, I've dedicated myself to engaging the district in substantive political dialogue, and I think San Franciscans are beginning to realize that, unlike Speaker Pelosi, I will fight for the issues most important to them," said John Dennis. "We're winning huge blocs of voters from every corner of the district -- from bar hoppers in the Castro, to former San Francisco Board of Supervisors President Matt Gonzalez."

The most recent round of research shows John Dennis capitalizing on strong grassroots support from progressives, moderates and independents along with general disproval of Pelosi as the Representative of CA-8. Last week, former Board of Supervisors President Matt Gonzalez endorsed John Dennis and former congressional antiwar candidate, Cindy Sheehan wrote a letter criticizing Nancy Pelosi's inadequate representation of the district.

"It's been a long time since San Francisco voters had a voice that represented their views in Washington," added Dennis. "Since becoming Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi has turned her back on our district to focus on helping to her special interest friends in Washington and to continue her power grab on America. With my support base growing, it's clear that I am just one of many who would like to take back the people's seat."
